The Future of Star Wars - Jojo Vader and Corellian Doll?
The good people at LucasFilm have decided to drop some major news this May The Fourth by confirming some rumors that have been floating for weeks and months. StarWars.com this morning confirmed that Taika Waititi will direct and co-write a new Star Wars feature film for theatrical release. Helping him with the script is Kristy Wilson-Cairns (Oscar-nominated for 1917). There is no release date at this time.
In addition, they confirmed the widely-read Variety exclusive from April 22 that Emmy-nominate writer (Russian Doll) Leslye Headland is executive producing, developing and show running a brand new series for Disney+.

While we had heard rumblings of these stories throughout 2020, it is the first time we are officially getting word from Disney and LFL giving fans something more to look forward to. While there is no indication of what the feature film or series will be about, it is certainly exciting to know that there are two major Star Wars events on the horizon beyond the hotly anticipated Mandalorian Season 2.
