SPOILER REVIEW: "War of the Bounty Hunters #1: Most Wanted" by Charles Soule

"Most Wanted" is the 1st issue in the "War of the Bounty Hunters" cross-over event anchor comic series. It was written by Charles Soule, illustrated by Luke Ross and Neeraj Menon, and published by Marvel Comics on June 2, 2021.

Woah...just...woah. I don't even know how I'm supposed to feel about the direction this sucker took. I 100% couldn't have been more surprised. Although there was a hint early on that I'm sure most people wouldn't have caught. The minute I made that connection, I immediately wondered, "Could it really be...?!?" And yup, it was!!! But, I don't know if I think this is a super cool thing or a pump the brakes thing. I really would love to know what you think about the "big reveal."

Anyway, on to the spoilers...and if you don't want to be spoiled, please look no further, cuz this spoiler is HUGE!

The new Crimson Dawn ship--the Vermillion.

Okay, Qi'ra is back. Qi'ra!!!! Crimson Dawn has finally made its sequel debut and Qi'ra is one bad** lady, large and in charge and taking no prisoners. She's ready to make a name for herself and will be pulling no punches to do so. I LOVE this Qi'ra!! She's the Qi'ra that was just bursting to come out in the Solo movie and looks like she finally found her way to the surface.

The hint was the presence of the Imroosian, Margo, who was Dryden Vos's concierge. I saw her unnamed first and was like, no...that can't be Margo. And then on the next page she was called by name. Then I knew the woman in the slick hooded outfit HAD to be Qi'ra. But I wasn't completely sure until she revealed her face in the second to last panel. So freaking good!!! ...or is it? Is it too much? Does this mean she dies? We see Han un-frozen in the future in the last "Vader" issue so do they get to see each other again?? SO MANY QUESTIONS!!!

Hooded Qi'ra!!

Now that I've gotten that out of the way, let's talk about my confusion with plot points that don't seem to make any sense. 1) Jabba did in fact put out the bounty for Boba Fett--because he was "taking too long" ha! 2) The Kanji did not steal Han's carbonite-frozen body, Crimson Dawn did!! 3) I still have NO idea how Han gets to be unfrozen between now and ROTJ--this part still has me flummoxed.

Besides all of the above craziness, there's a Hutt council meeting with a connection to the High Republic (seems like Marlo upon being woken up thinks he's still in the High Republic age...apparently Hutts can live for hundreds of years--who'da thought?!? And the death of both Zuckuss and 4-LOM!! It was so casual, too. Crazy bizarre stuff in this issue.

---

Trivia:

-The Hutt Council includes: Jabba, Marlo, Bokku, and Meeka

-Jabba has a war barge called the "Shad'ruu"...potentially after Boonta Hestilic Shad'ruu...you know, Boonta Eve??

-Halita and Tekrit are the names of two people who try to get in on the hunt for Boba Fett...but he fights back.

MY SCORE: I'm gonna go 9.5/10 for this one. For all my hemming and hawing about how I feel about Qi'ra's reappearance...it was pretty darn cool and that cannot be denied. Plus this issue was super robust and had all sorts of exciting moments. It was definitely a knock out of the park!

Qi'ra revealed!!! This likeness is incredible!!!
