New Star Wars Squadrons Video Game Announced!
On a day where Star Wars announced that Celebration will be cancelled, they softened the blow with some good news. EA has announced a new Star Wars game, Star Wars: Squadrons, a first-person space combat game that will have players flying starfighters in head-to-head single-player (dog-fight) and multiplayer (Fleet Battles). Squadrons will let players fly a variety of Star Wars Rebels and Empire ships, including: X-Wing, A-Wing, Y-Wing, U-Wing, TIE Fighter, TIE Interceptor, TIE Bomber, and TIE Reaper fighters.
There are some heavy Top Gun vibes here and we are all for it! It's no coincidence that this was code named "Project Maverick". And speaking of familiar vibes...while it will be cool to customize your ships and your pilot, we do hope that you can "level up" and get to be a known pilot like Hera Syndulla in the Ghost, or Wedge in an X-Wing. When released, the game will cost an extremely affordable $39.99.
Here is our own, Shannon Moran, reacting to the trailer. Skip to the 17 minute mark for the start of the trailer.
