Four story arcs to include when "Solo 2" happens #MakeSolo2Happen

Updated: May 23

Fans across the galaxy continue to sound off for a sequel to "Solo: A Star Wars Story," as we prepare for #MakeSolo2Happen Day this May 25th. Everyday this week we're joining our friends over at SWNN's The Resistance Broadcast to spread the word to #MakeSolo2Happen by posting daily articles supporting the movement. For there to be a movie, there needs to be a script full of adventure, suspense, and humor. In this moment, we will explore four story lines we would enjoy seeing play out either on the big screen or on Disney+.

Maul and Qi'ra

This is by far our most anticipated storyline for a "Solo" sequel when you consider what trouble a former sith apprentice and street rat could muster in a galaxy thrust into galactic conquest. Maul wants revenge and is in the middle of building his empire himself, Crimson

Dawn. Qi'ra we know is a much more valuable player in this organization based on final minutes of the 2018 Star Wars story. The last time we saw these characters on screen together, Qi'ra, Han's former main-squeeze, was instructed to travel to Dathomir to work closely with Maul.

Imagine this sequel some how involves the Hutts and lets go as far to say Han is hired to do a job to protect some Hutt assets. What if, Maul's Crimson Dawn was the threat to the Hutt Crime Family. The movie plays out like a gangster film.

Qi'ra could have a duel role as Maul's assistant or potentially new apprentice. We have no idea if she's force sensitive and if she is, well that's fairly convenient for this speculation. But also she could play with Han's heart for one more lap around the twin suns. Imagine if Han is in a bind, Qi'ra returns to save him, but in the process has to sacrifice herself. It has to be a scenario that doesn't involve Maul directly or at least he can't be present because that would just absolutely shatter Han's innocence in A New Hope.

Han and Luck

If Han has not been exposed to the force until he comes across Luke and Ben in A New Hope, then he must develop an intimate relationship with luck.

"I’ve flown from one side of this galaxy to the other," Han explains aboard the Falcon to Ben Kenobi and Luke Skywalker. "I’ve seen a lot of strange stuff, but I’ve never seen anything to make me believe there’s one all-powerful force controlling everything. There’s no mystical energy field that controls my destiny."

If we get a second "Solo" story whether that's on the big screen or on Disney+, we need to see Han exposed even more outrageous situations to make him think a good blaster at his side is the only thing that can save him. We saw glimpses of this in the first "Solo" story whether it's jumping from train cars, blowing out of the space mines of Kessel, or a jump to hyper space just before getting consumed by a space monster. Maybe we see Han make his first visit to the Hutt Palace on Tatooine. It's possible we could see Han try and score some supplies from an Imperial outpost and see him have to out maneuver some Star Destroyers. For your sake, I hope the screen writers come up with something better.

Imperial Conquest

One of our favorite elements of "Solo" and "Rogue One" is witnessing the progression of Imperial rule across the galaxy. Previous to this Star Wars story, we last saw The Emperor and

Darth Vader over looking the construction of a technological terror at the end of Revenge of the Sith. In "Solo" we see the death and destruction of the front lines of warfare with new vehicles and new divisions of troopers. It would be a thrill to see more of the transition between the Grand Army of the Republic remnants and the Galactic Empire. Personally, it would be cool to see imperial troops descend on a skirmish in retrofitted Republic gunships. Where did all the capitol ships go? Materials recycled to build Star Destroyers? We should clarify, we don't want to see The Emperor or Vader in this movie. Strictly the continued military growth of the Empire.

Lando and Lobot

The explanation of Lando and Lobot connecting may be in the lead storyline with fans for a "Solo" sequel. We last see Lando lose the Millennium Falcon to Han but what if luck is also on Lando's side? Imagine witnessing the events that lead to Lando rising through the ranks to become the Cloud City Administrator. Is Lobot a friend from the past that only Lando could trust with security detail?

*I've had a theory for a while that Bespin was just a front for Lando. That there had to be some dealings behind closed doors. But that reputation probably would have kept Han from going to seek his help in Empire. Also, there's probably a comic that disproves my theory.

As for Lobot, according to Wookiepedia, "His brain was connected to the city's central computer which allowed him to communicate directly with the city's computer network. In this capacity, he served as the city's first and only computer-liaison officer."

That's not a lot to work with, right? But Lobot is similar to Boba Fett in that he has limited screen time but he's a fan favorite because he is used in the movie like a really good spice for a pasta dish. It's the right amount for us fans to crave some more time with the character.
