Could Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga Show up during Xbox Game Showcase on July 23rd

Updated: Jul 21, 2020

Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga news has been a bit absent. The initial announcement came during E3 2019 with a trailer and then in December of 2019 some Rise of Skywalker in engine footage was shown and that has been about it. Last month we got the box art for the game finally released as well. So its a very slow news cycle to say the least, however there are now rumors that we might be getting a game showcase during Xbox Game Showcase 2020 on July 23rd

This speculation is based of the history of the game tied with Xbox - even though its not a console exclusive like Halo - it was during E3 2019 that is had its premiere during the Xbox prevention. So with that logic in mind fans are hoping to get more than just a cinematic trailer coming about the game. That during this Xbox Game Showcase we will see in game engine rendering and play through demos

Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga will be the largest Lego Game to date and will cover all 9 films with over 500 playable characters. That's a lot of people. Fans of the Lego Game franchise will rejoice that it will still have its trademark humor as well. TT Games' Jonathan Smith has commented that in particular there is a moment between Kylo and Luke on Crait, that is funny but also still very much in character.

Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is also non-linear, taking an open-world approach to the saga. Meaning you can choose any point in the Saga to play - you do not have to start with the Phantom Menace. This game will also return fan favorite "couch co-op" for a family friendly experience for new players. For those not familiar with the term (I know I had to look it up) that means two players can play but share the same display screen, unlike online co-op

No release date has officially been announced besides "late 2020," but the game's release date may have leaked during May the 4th celebrations, when an October 20, 2020 release date was shown in a video on the official Star Wars YouTube channel and the video was later taken down.

There was also a target ad where you can get 30% off the game but also shows a Fall 2020 release. That also helps solidify the hopefully Oct 20th release. Only time will tell but I know fans are ready for some news. I know I am and look forward to streaming and playing this game.
